What a now-forgotten song can do to you
Nov. 19th, 2006 08:37 amAnd then that bloody song came on and it was like being thrown into a cold/hot shower in a drunk tank: I perked up, inside and outside, and listened, whiskey forgotten in my hand. And my brain shook itself like a wet dog and all the shit and garbage in it went flying all over the place like so much dirt and fleas. Of course, just like fleas, most of it found its way back into my mind soon enough, but I was actually somewhat free for the bloody three minutes the song had lasted, and that is more than most music has ever done for me.
